Bihar: Patna stayed awake on the eve of counting and people across Bihar were discussing possible outcomes and the record turnout of 9.6 percent above the last election surprised everyone and political experts say this shows a clear shift and strong voter energy and many feel the mood of the state has changed and all alliances are now waiting anxiously for the verdict.
Jan Suraj played a key part in setting early themes and their campaign spoke directly to young voters and focused on jobs, migration and better education and this message spread fast in towns and villages and it pushed other parties to adjust their strategies and left politics made these issues louder and many voters felt connected with these concerns and the turnout grew because of this narrative.
NDA’s welfare announcements influenced many families and free 125 units of electricity attracted a large group and cash assistance for women built strong trust and payments had already started reaching bank accounts and women saw real benefits and their participation increased sharply and this direct support shaped voting behaviour and helped build a positive mood toward the ruling alliance.
The Mahagathbandhan also shaped the election with bold promises and they announced one government job per household and ₹30,000 support for women and these offers created emotional appeal and they promised strict action against crime and a stronger administration and many voters believed these guarantees and some felt a change was needed and this kept the fight close and competitive across regions.
This election carried a sentimental layer for both old and new leaders and senior figures like Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav were seen fighting their final major battle and young leaders saw a chance to rise and both generations worked with full force and their presence created strong emotions among voters and people felt this election could shift Bihar’s political future and turnout rose because of this emotional connect.
Clear polarisation was visible between NDA and the Mahagathbandhan and supporters of both sides were energised and Jan Suraj and AIMIM created local divisions in some regions and multiple issues pushed people to take firm positions and when one side became vocal the other side responded equally strongly and this competitive spirit took people to polling booths and aggressive participation shaped the final turnout.
The record turnout indicates a motivated electorate and people wanted their voice counted in shaping Bihar’s next phase and voters felt the election mattered for jobs and governance and many believed strong participation could push change and others trusted current policies and wanted stability and all groups came out in large numbers and now the entire state waits for counting day.
